Product Description

Earthing Busbar Insulator Support for Switchgear & Substations — Mechanical Mounting, 36 kV Rated

The Earthing Busbar Insulator Support from Avantar has a body made of epoxy resin or SMC insulation and a bracket made of galvanised steel. It holds grounding busbars firmly in place in switchgear panels, distribution rooms, and substation earthing enclosures. The insulator body has a resistance of 1,000 MΩ and can handle up to 36 kV. There are three standard heights: 40 mm, 60 mm, and 80 mm. You can mount it in M8, M10, or M12, so it can fit a lot of different cabinet configurations.

What Is an Earthing Busbar Insulator Support?

There are two parts to a product: a moulded insulator body and a galvanised steel base. The insulator body keeps the necessary electrical space between the grounding busbar and the cabinet shell, and the bracket securely attaches the unit to the wall of the enclosure.

Not having this space can cause a grounding busbar to touch metal cabinet surfaces without meaning to. This could damage the earthing circuit and pose a safety risk.

Material Options and Key Properties

Either epoxy resin or SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) is used to make the insulator body. Each is better for a different installation priority.

Epoxy glue can be used in medium-voltage settings up to 36 kV because it has a high dielectric strength and a stable surface resistance. SMC is better at withstanding mechanical impacts, which is helpful in places where there is a lot of vibration or where maintenance is needed on a frequent basis.

Both materials can be used in indoor switchgear panels, outdoor distribution rooms, and substation earthing panels because they don't catch fire and don't fade in UV light. All models come with mounting holes that have already been drilled.

Applications

These Earthing Busbar Insulator Supports are used wherever a grounding busbar must be mounted at a fixed, measured clearance from surrounding metal surfaces inside an electrical enclosure.

Typical deployment locations include:

  • Switchgear panels — mounting earthing busbars at fixed heights inside low- and medium-voltage cabinets
  • Distribution rooms — securing grounding rails across multiple panel bays
  • Substation earthing panels — supporting busbars rated up to 36 kV
  • Industrial machine enclosures — providing grounding points in manufacturing equipment
  • Data center infrastructure — maintaining low-impedance ground paths in server room installations

Custom Configuration

Standard catalog heights of 40 mm, 60 mm, and 80 mm with M8–M12 bolt patterns cover the majority of cabinet layouts, but non-standard geometries are supported through OEM and ODM customization.

Custom requests can include non-standard insulator heights, modified hole layouts, alternative bracket profiles, or adjusted busbar slot widths. For tender projects, custom material datasheets and test records can be provided on request.

To initiate a customization request, send your busbar dimensions, required cabinet clearance, and system voltage to [email protected].

Certifications and Quality

These products comply with IEC 62561 (earthing systems), UL 467 (grounding and bonding equipment), and RoHS (restriction of hazardous substances). Avantar's broader quality management system operates under ISO 9001.

Each production batch undergoes dielectric performance testing and dimensional inspection before shipment. For larger orders, finished-goods video inspection and third-party witness inspection are available upon request.

Certificate

How to Specify?

Selecting the correct model requires confirming four parameters:

  1. Insulator height — 40 mm, 60 mm, or 80 mm, based on the required electrical clearance in your cabinet
  2. Voltage rating — confirm the system voltage does not exceed 36 kV
  3. Mounting bolt size — M8, M10, or M12, depending on busbar and cabinet design
  4. Material — epoxy resin for high dielectric strength, or SMC for greater impact resistance

Provide your busbar cross-section dimensions, available internal cabinet space, and site environment (indoor/outdoor, operating temperature range). The engineering team will confirm the correct catalog model or advise on a custom configuration.

Standard MOQ is 100 pieces per model. Lead time for catalog items is 7–15 working days after order confirmation. Export documentation including certificate of origin and available test records is provided with each shipment.

FAQ

Q: What is the role of a product in switchgear and substation systems?

A: It maintains electrical clearance from the metal enclosure and it holds the grounding busbar in a fixed location inside the cabinet. The insulator body is rated to 36 kV and has a minimum insulation resistance of 1,000 MΩ to protect the busbar from making accidental contact with adjacent metalwork.

Q: What do I need to check when I order?

A: Check insulator height (40 mm / 60 mm / 80 mm), rated voltage (up to 36 kV), mounting bolt size (M8 / M10 / M12) and composition of insulator (epoxy resin or SMC). The team gives exact advice on model selection, including busbar dimensions and interior clearance of the cabinet.

Q: How do I get quality control before making a bulk order?

A: Pre-order verification options include a request for a trial batch for dimensional and insulation-resistance inspection; material datasheet and available dielectric test records; finished-goods video inspection or arranging third-party witness inspection for tender projects.

Q: MOQ, lead time and packing arrangement?

A: Normally, MOQ is 100 pcs for each model. The lead time for Catalogue Items is 7-15 working days. The goods are wrapped in anti-oxidation bundles or wooden cases. We can handle sea and air freight and can provide quotations on EXW, FOB and other conventional trade terms.

Q: Can I set a custom insulator height or hole pattern?

A: Yep. OEM / ODM service also offer non-standard insulator heights, changed hole patterns and alternate bracket configurations. Provide us with your drawings or technical specs and the engineering team will advise on feasibility and lead time.
