Product Description

Hot Dip Galvanized Ground Rod for General Grounding Systems — Cost-Effective Steel Earthing Electrode

Avantar's hot dip galvanized ground rods are made of solid carbon steel and have a hot-dip zinc covering that meets ASTM A123 standards and has a zinc weight of at least 610 g/m². They have diameters of 1/2", 5/8", and 3/4" and lengths of 1.5 m, 2.4 m, and 3 m. They are strong enough to be used for deep drives. Pick an end with a point, a thread, or a straight line. You can use these rods to ground general buildings, construction sites, and distribution networks. They work well and don't cost a lot of money.

What Is a Hot Dip Galvanized Ground Rod?

The item is a solid carbon-steel electrode that has been hot-dip galvanised in line with ASTM A123 and ISO 1461. The zinc layer sticks to the steel surface physically, making a wall that keeps oxidation from happening in the ground.

A lot of people choose this type of rod when moderate rust protection is enough and keeping project costs low is important. General building earthing, home earthing, construction site temporary power, fence and equipment earthing, and distribution network earthing are all common uses.

Copper-clad steel or solid copper rods are better for soils that are very corrosive chemically. Galvanised steel works consistently in normal soil that is only slightly corrosive.

Key Product Features

Zinc Coating Applied to ASTM A123 / ISO 1461

The hot-dip galvanising process makes a coating with a minimum weight of 610 g/m². This makes a thick layer of zinc that protects against corrosion in normal soil.

Mechanical Strength for Deep Driving

The strong carbon-steel rod body can handle being hammered over and over again during deep installation. The pointed-end option is made to drive directly into hardened soil with direct impact.

Three Ways to Set Up the Ends

Pointed ends work well for driving with direct contact. Multi-rod connection for deeper grounding grids is possible with threaded ends. For uses that need special field preparation, plain ends are available.

Compliance Documentation Available

Products meet UL 467 standards for sales in North America, IEC 62561-2 standards for earthing in other countries, and RoHS environmental standards. ISO 9001 certification has been given to the quality management system.

Lower Material Cost for Large-Volume Orders

Copper-clad or solid-copper alternatives are more expensive than galvanised steel construction. This makes it a good choice for large-scale grounding projects where the soil is ideal.

Custom Design Options

Avantar can make galvanised ground rods that are exactly what you need based on your project drawings, technical specifications, and the conditions on the job site. To make your grounding-grid plan work, you can tell us the rod diameter, buried length, end type, and zinc coating needs.

If you need a length other than the standard 1.5 m, 2.4 m, and 3 m, you can ask for it. For connection systems that get electrodes deeper into multi-rod grounding grids, threaded-end rods can be set up in different ways.

For projects that need special compliance paperwork or certain formats for packaging in order to be bid on, our team can make it happen. Copper-clad steel ground rods from our product line are good for dirt that rusts easily.

Application Scenarios

Hot dip galvanized ground rods are used across building, infrastructure, and power sectors where soil conditions are moderately corrosive and a 610 g/m² zinc coating provides adequate long-term protection.

  • General building and residential grounding — structural earthing in new construction projects
  • Construction-site temporary power — fast-deploy grounding for site safety compliance
  • Fence and equipment grounding — perimeter and machinery earthing at competitive cost
  • Distribution network earthing — pole and substation grounding in general-purpose overhead line systems
  • Industrial facility grounding — equipment and panel earthing in light industrial environments

How to Specify?

To confirm the right specification for your project, provide the following details when contacting our team:

  1. Rod diameter — 1/2", 5/8", or 3/4"
  2. Buried length — standard 1.5 m, 2.4 m, 3 m, or custom
  3. End type — pointed (direct driving), threaded (coupling for deep grids), or plain
  4. Soil conditions — confirm the soil is moderately corrosive; highly corrosive environments require a different rod type
  5. Compliance requirements — UL 467 (North America), IEC 62561-2 (international), or RoHS
  6. Order quantity and delivery schedule

Our engineering team can review your grounding-grid layout and soil-condition data to suggest the appropriate specification before you place a formal order.

Quality Assurance & Certifications

Before it leaves our Guangdong factory, every rod is tested for mechanical strength, zinc coating weight, and accuracy of size. Before the shipment goes out, you can look over the production records and test reports.

The goods are safe and meet standards like UL 467, IEC 62561-2, RoHS, ISO 9001, and CE. UL 467 test records are given for North American tender projects. International earthing system specifications can be found in IEC 62561-2 documentation.

If you ask, you can get a video review of finished goods before they are shipped. For big tender jobs, a third-party witness inspection can also be set up.

Certificate

Packaging & Logistics

Rods are packed in anti-oxidation bundles or wooden boxes to keep the surface from rusting while they are being shipped by sea or air. Full export paperwork is given, including a certificate of origin and official UL and IEC test reports for getting through customs and submitting a bid.

You can get quotes using EXW, FOB, and other common terms for international trade. Avantar is close to the big ports of Shenzhen and Guangzhou, which makes it easy to move goods around the world.

FAQ

Q: What grounding projects are the items best for?

A: They are effective for general building grounding, residential earthing, construction site temporary electricity, fence and equipment grounding and distribution-network earthing where the soil is fairly corrosive and a zinc coating of 610 g/m² provides sufficient protection. Copper-clad-steel or solid-copper rods are better for very corrosive or chemically active soil.

Q: Are you a manufacturer or a trading company?

A: Yes, Avantar is a direct manufacturer. All inspection of Carbon Steel Cutting, Hot Dip Galvanising, End Forming and Zinc Coating is done in our Guangdong Factory. Upon request, video inspection of finished goods prior to shipment is available.

Q: What parameters should I look at while ordering for varied soil situations.

A: Verify rod diameter, embedment length, end type (pointed/threaded/plain) and conformity with zinc coating (ASTM A123, ≥ 610 g/m2). Pointed-end rods are to be driven by direct impact; threaded-end rods can be coupled together to extend the depth of the grid. Galvanised rods are not suitable for severely corrosive soil – give us with your soil condition data and grounding grid layout and our staff can offer the right specification.

Q: What certification documents are available, and how can I verify quality before bulk purchase?

A: Products are UL 467, IEC 62561-2 and RoHS compliant. For each export cargo, we provide certificate of origin and certified UL and IEC test results. You can make a small trial batch order for the site to verify before making a bulk order. You can check the zinc-coating weight and dimension test records. You can organise a finished-goods video inspection. You can also require third-party witness inspection if it is a large tender project.

Q: What is MOQ, lead time and packaging?

A: Standard MOQ is 100 pcs per model. Lead time for typical goods is 7-15 working days after order confirmation. Goods are bundled in anti-oxidation bundles or hardwood boxes. Supported on both maritime freight and air freight. Documentation for export includes a certificate of origin and UL/IEC test reports. Quotations are offered at EXW, FOB and other customary trading terms.

Q: Can the rods be customised to meet unusual project requirements?

A: Sure. Custom lengths, diameters and end configurations can be made to your project designs and technical specifications. Threaded coupling systems can also be arranged in deep grounding grids. If the project is in very corrosive soil, our experts can suggest alternate grounding electrode products from our selection.
